My two artist friends and I went along to Driffield Art Group last Monday to view Susan Neale’s work: the topic was using various types of watersoluble crayon and techniques for optimum effectiveness. The talk she gave accompanied by a digital screen for ease of viewing, was most interesting. I particularly liked her technique of using salt crystals on wet paint/ watersoluble crayon something which I had done many times when I taught silk painting, but I had never tried salt with wet media on paper before. Of course, after we’d gabbed and dabbled I rushed back to my studio and experimented with salt on wet on wet – the result will be Red Poppies when I complete it. Love the speckled effect!
