xmas snowberries - CopyHappyxmassnowberries

There has been a lot happening – 2 exhibitions at Wolds Gallery and Driffield Art Club and even a photo of me, Sue, Rachael and Mary in the Driffield Times.  There’s also been East    Riding Open Studios which I hope to be part of next year.  So much beautiful art – work from textiles to jewellery design.  I’ve sold many cards and have just drawn 4 Christmas card designs in readiness for the Christmas Fair in Driffield on 4th December.  With 80 designs now I’m in the process of categorising them to sell them in separate sections at the markets.  I’ve also bought myself another card stand.

I have just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini and it is unbelievably unputdownable!  I love reading and often feel inspired to do my art work after an hour or two of reading. ( I wonder if I’ll ever feel like illustrating some of the books I read.)  What caught my attention was what Hosseini said in his postscript where he says he changed the languages in which he writes but what remained constant: ‘ … writing has always been the selfish, self-serving act of telling myself a story… something grabs my interest and compels me to sit down and see it through’.  Substitute the art for the writing and that’s me.  Selling stuff is just an extra, a nice extra but an extra nevertheless!
